Watch Trends-Brown

In most men’s wardrobes have autumn drawer removal from underground repositories, and ensured that the seersucker, linen and madras have been replaced with warming tweed, soft corduroy at the rustic flannel. For this autumn’s drab color scheme fits one of the recent major trends in the Watch World extra good; Brown.

Until recently, the Brown apart from the seventies happiest days stood in harm’s way for the sake of the sporty black. A classic clock model that has never been ashamed of their peculiar optics are Rolex GMT-Master in the Brown execution as gold and tvåtonsmodellerna had more or less since its inception. Steel-and guldvarianten has a nickname as “rootbeer”, “Tigerauge” and “Havana” for its characteristic appearance where Brown, beige, gold and steel constitutes a glidigt sjuttiotalig combination. The variant was left up to the new, “six-figure”, generation of the GMT-Master II with ceramic vridringsinlägg came, but as last year to some extent came back when a special version of the Daytona in “Everose gold”-appeared with ceramic glasring and chocolate brown Board.

That will be felt further into the article, it is precisely the combination of gold and Brown that makes itself scarce well (and often they have real nice marks just Brown band on watches in yellow, red or rose gold, while gold and Platinum tend to end up on a black or dark blue band), as seen in another “cult” Rolex Day-Date model-with trätavla, a really unusual bird with smartly diverse mahogany Board that both exist in automatically and the Oysterquartz-execution.

Not intentionally, but enough so attractive and popular is the vintage models, especially from Rolex, where black boards for various reasons (the color properties, heat, light, humidity) slowly turns from black to chocolate brown. This “defect” is highly prized by collectors, and it is no problem to double the price of a watch with these so called “tropical” paintings. A model often had precisely this is the Omega Speedmaster from the late sixties, as Omega forty years later drew attention in a special version with a dark brown Board. When the Omega Aqua Terra was renewed with their neatly patterned “teak”-painting came, of course, a version with a Brown Board that is ravishing good looks (especially, as I said, with gold …).

A brand that traditionally had a lot of Brown paintings is Panerai, which mainly are special editions and titan models that had the characteristic tobacco Brown Board that in recent years received a big boost with the current vintage trend. The trend also means that the seventies are alive and well as in TAG Heuer Silverstone, which has typical cat, graded boards in grey-brown.

Just the combination of rich gold paint and broken, deep brown mantle Board is undeniably delicious in both dress as sports-two examples are custom versions of the Breitling Chronomat B01 and Chopard L.U.C XPS offers a refreshing absence of sportklockornas black and kostymklockornas bright paintings. Another example of interesting deviations from the norm are Iwc Saint-Exupery-editions of the pilot line, where the otherwise monochrome and miltäriskt functional flygarklockorna bear Brown boards, flight romantic idiom with 1930s inspired and delicious engravings on boettlocket.

Even in the luxury port segment, which has long been dominated by the solid black is the brown color device that option-the Special Edition of the Royal Oak Offshore called Safari has a natural colored theme me cream dial and Brown details, including the cult band in “hornback”-alligator. Hublot, which perhaps most of all practiced a theme with all-black “nuts” in the last decade has given a Brown alternative in the form of a “Chocolate” edition of its hit model Big Bang with Brown pottery and PVD coating. Those two are sturdy sports models, but for a little more discreet gentleman offers Patek Philippe is an alternative that can be one of the market’s hottest sports options; Aquanaut in rose gold with the model’s “tropic”-rubber bracelets (as in color and texture are charmingly like a chocolate cake …).
